Our Story in Financial Education

From confused investors to confident educators — building Ireland's most practical investment terminology academy since 2019

It Started with a Simple Question

Back in 2018, I was sitting in a Dublin coffee shop, staring at my investment portfolio that had just dropped 15% in a week. The financial news was throwing around terms like "yield curve inversion" and "credit default swaps" — and I realized I understood maybe half of what they were saying.

That moment sparked something. If someone like me, with years in business, was struggling with investment terminology, how were everyday Irish investors supposed to make informed decisions?

"We started teaching investment terminology because we wished someone had taught it to us when we needed it most."

Motionova Academy began in early 2019 with a weekend workshop for twelve people in Kildare. Today, we've helped over 800 Irish investors understand the language of finance — not through complicated theories, but through real examples they can actually use.

Lead Financial Terminology Instructor

After losing money on investments I didn't fully understand, I spent three years learning every financial term the hard way. Now I teach others so they don't have to make the same expensive mistakes. Previously worked with AIB's investment division and holds certifications from the Institute of Banking in Ireland.

How We Actually Teach

Forget academic theory. We use real Irish market examples, current events, and situations you'll actually encounter when investing your money.

1

Real Examples First

We start with actual Irish investment scenarios — like understanding AIB's dividend yield or CRH's earnings reports — then explain the terminology you need to analyze them properly.

2

Context That Matters

Every term connects to something relevant. When we teach "P/E ratio," you'll learn it using companies you recognize, with numbers that matter to Irish investors today.

3

Practice With Purpose

Our exercises use real financial statements from Irish and international companies. You'll read actual analyst reports and interpret genuine market data — not made-up examples.

What We're Really Trying to Do

Financial literacy shouldn't be a luxury for people with economics degrees. When you understand investment terminology, you make better decisions with your money. It's that straightforward.

We've seen too many Irish investors — from Cork to Donegal — miss opportunities or make costly mistakes simply because they didn't understand what they were reading in financial reports or investment platforms.
